If the thought of spending your wedding day posing for photographs fills you with dread, you’re definitely not alone!

A lot of the couples who book me tell me some version of the same thing:

“We’re really awkward in photos.”

And honestly, that’s absolutely fine.

Your Wedding Doesn’t Need to Feel Like a Photoshoot.

My approach to wedding photography is very relaxed. For most of the day, I’m looking for the little moments happening naturally — the laughs, hugs, reactions and all the things you probably won’t even notice happening around you.

When it comes to your couple portraits, I’ll give you some gentle direction so you’re never standing there wondering what you’re supposed to do.

But I don’t want to spend an hour posing you in twenty different ways.

I’d much rather take you for a short walk, let you chat and have a laugh together and create photographs that actually feel like you.

How Long Do Wedding Portraits Take?

For smaller weddings, we can often get gorgeous couple portraits in 20–30 minutes.

You don’t need to disappear from your guests for hours.

We’ll usually choose somewhere close to your ceremony or reception, have a relaxed wander and then get you back to your wedding.

What If One of Us REALLY Doesn’t Want Photos?

This happens more often than you might think!

Sometimes one person loves the idea of having beautiful wedding photographs and the other would happily avoid the camera altogether.

That’s where keeping things relaxed makes a huge difference.

You don’t need to perform for the camera or suddenly become comfortable posing. My job is to make the photography feel like a small, enjoyable part of your day rather than something you have to get through.

And very often, the person who was least excited about having a photographer ends up pleasantly surprised by how painless it actually was!

You Can Keep Wedding Photography Simple

Especially if you’re planning a smaller or more relaxed wedding, you don’t necessarily need eight or ten hours of photography.

A few hours can be enough to capture your ceremony, the people who matter to you and some beautiful portraits together — without your wedding day revolving around photographs.

If you’re planning a relaxed Dublin or Wicklow wedding and want natural photographs without spending half the day posing, I’d love to hear what you’re planning.
