Karl and Gill’s Dublin Registry Office wedding was proof that a small wedding can still feel like a proper celebration.
They were actually heading to Rome the following month for their wedding, but first made things official in Dublin surrounded by the people closest to them.
I joined them for three hours of photography, starting at the Dublin Registry Office where I captured their ceremony, followed by family photos and plenty of congratulations outside.
From there, we headed into Dublin city for some relaxed couple portraits before doing what every good Dublin wedding should include — stopping for a pint and a glass of bubbles!
One of my favourite things about photographing small Dublin weddings is that there’s time for moments like this. Rather than rushing from one part of the day to the next, Karl and Gill could enjoy themselves, have a drink and soak it all in while I captured everything as it happened.
We finished up at Fallon & Byrne, where I left them to continue the celebrations with their family and friends.
Three hours was the perfect amount of coverage for their day — enough to capture the ceremony, family, city portraits and some of the celebrations afterwards, without needing a traditional full-day wedding photography package.
